Frankfurt Weihnachtsmarkt
Definitely one of the best things to do during the month of December in the city, simply un-missable if you’re in Frankfurt during the Holiday Season.
Turns out this is one of Germany’s most important Christmas Markets in terms of size and attendance. Spread across the center of the city (it goes from Hauptwache to the Romeberg), it’s a lovely place to wander around, drink some Gluhwein (warm spiced wine, typical German Christmas drink) and buy some handmade decorations.
Prost!

Great photos from Frankfurt’s Weihnachtsmarkt! I was just here last December (2010) to sip on a Glühwein. When I came back for a visit this past October, I saw construction towards the southern part of Römerberg near Alte Nikolaikirche, which I found irritating because I thought there would be less space for stands for the Christmas market. I hope that’s not true.
Thanks Fotoeins! Yup construction is still there, but with good judgement it’s been paused now that the Weihnachtsmarkt is in full swing. The market is spread over such a huge area you barely get to notice the construction site, thankfully! Aahh sipping on Glühwein with the cold weather… just magic :)
