Schloss Johannisberg

Schloss Johannisberg

Want to impress family and friends who are paying you a visit in Frankfurt? Schloss Johannisberg is our #1 pick.

A historic landmark of Germany’s wine industry, it’s also one of the countries oldest wineries producing riesling wine for over 900 years. When visiting the estate you can take a guided wine tasting tour around their candle lit cellar and 86 acres of vineyards, or have lunch at their Gutsschänke Restaurant, overlooking the vineyards and the river Rhein and offering delicious regional cuisine. We especially recommend their cream of riesling soup and their veal wiener schnitzel (cut thin to perfection and accompanied by gorgeous chive and bacon baked new potatoes). In summer you can enjoy the sun in the restaurant’s open air terrace and during winter you can take in the breathtaking views from the glass-enclosed dining room.

About 45 minutes away from Frankfurt by car, the last 15 minutes are an absolute joy as you’re driving on the highway right next to the Rhein river passing vineyard next to vineyard.

I love this place. If you go and eat at the restaurant make sure to reserve next to the window to make sure you get the best views.

Great add MCT! That’s a must-follow pointer, the views next to the window are the absolute best.
