South of the Main river, this is a great neighbourhood for anyone looking to be close to the city center but in an area not as busy, although still lively.
The Schweizer Platz (pictured) is the heart of the neighbourhood, with its tree lined square surrounded by beautiful old-style houses. It’s surroundings however are quite ‘noisier’ than Bornheim, as there are many traditional Frankfurter pubs scattered around ‘Alte Sachsenhausen’ (a pedestrian zone consisting of cobbled stoned streets and pubs and restaurants), which gets pretty busy over the weekends as it attracts many tourists and is one of Frankfurt’s nightlife spots.
