Frankfurt’s city center. The best neighbourhood option if you want to be right smack in the middle of the city’s hustle and bustle!
There’s Zeil, Frankfurt’s main shopping street. Most department stores, clothing stores and malls are all in this pedestrian street between Konstablerwache and Hauptwache. You won’t find many available housing options here as most real estate is reserved for retail, but spread close to this street you will find available apartments for rent, especially a bit to the north around Eschenheimer Turm.
There’s also pedestrian Grosse Bockenheimer Strasse (pictured above) which has a lovely offer of restaurants and cafes; and Goethestrasse which is Frankfurt’s luxury shopping haven (Tiffany’s, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Miu Miu and Chanel are all on this street).
Finally there’s Altstadt, Frankfurt’s ‘old quarter’ nestled between Zeil and the Main River. A busy area that attracts practically all of the city’s tourists, it’s a difficult option because as with Zeil, there are very few apartments available for rent.
The best website to find apartments for rent and sale in Frankfurt is Immobilien Scout 24, downside is it’s only in German…
